Notizie dal monastero olivetano del Ghana

Dear Olivetan Brothers & Sisters,

Peace greetings from Akwaboa - Ghana!!

I would like to share with you Our way of life in Ghana Monastery, Last but not the lest community of Olivetan Congregation.

Our Monastery dedicated to St. Mary of Monte Oliveto was Inaugurated on the 21st March 2006 in the hands of Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana and the Abbot General Michelangelo M. Tiribilli.

After the inauguration of our Monastery, the community entered into a hardship and a difficult situation: "The death of our Brother D. John, Change of many leadership, misunderstanding between the brothers and the superiors, lack of formation, financial problems etc."

But in all these, the community is back on it feet!! still alive, strong, full of God´s Grace and the powerful assistance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Bernardo Tolomei and Santa Francesca Romana.

We are 4 Monks with one Regular oblate and 4 Aspirants in Ghana Community now, we have other 6 Ghanaian brothers and one Regular Oblate in Italy.

We in Ghana community rise up at 4:30am and begins our prayers from 4;45am, seeking to grow in love of God and neighbour through the Monastic life of prayer, work and community life.

We live and work according to the Rule of St. Benedict centring our life around our prayer. We come together for prayer 8 times a day: Vigils, Lauds, Terce, Sext, None, Rosary, Vespers, and Complian and for H. Eucharist and have other time for Lectio Divina and

meditation, 1st Saturday of every month Retreat in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

We would like to thank all our dear brothers and sisters who have been praying for Ghana community of Monte Oliveto. We continue to appeal to all brothers and sisters of Olivetan Congregation to continue pray for us your junior brothers. The most precious thing you can offer us is your daily prayers and support and if you have English books kindly sends us some because we have empty shares in our library.

Be rest assured of our daily prayers for all of you. Thank you and May God bless you all.

With love & prayers

D. Francis M. Kumi osb.
